The examples make clear that a very general goal of creating resistance and/or resilience as an end, in and of itself, is insufficient. He and two other Young Smiths are at Brian Brazeal’s shop working on a demo and many new tools, including new 5 pound hammers for each of them. On a completely different note, my friend and fellow smith, Kainon Baumer is participating in a great adventure right now. I will then get the rivet forge Sue Murray loaned me cleaned up and working, I have begun that as well, then forging will occur. I will be continuing to do a little at a time, once it is glued up it will need a bit of time to cure and then I can get the anvil mounted to make sure the block will be sufficient to the task. I am really happy to keep moving on this project as it is just about the only thing standing in the way of forging at home. ![]() I may fill them in with a bit of scrap before all is said and done, but it really won’t make any structural difference. You can see in the last two shots how the boards end up a bit short on opposite corners. The top will receive a fitted plywood and metal cap once the sides are attached and cured.
